Overall Objective
Manage process development for new product introductions and renovations. Design and conduct pilot experiments and plant trials. Coordinate project timelines with cross-functional teams, including other R&D specialists, Packaging Engineers, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Marketing, as well as external resources. Work as liaison with Process Authority to determine appropriate aseptic and/or retort conditions for commercial sterility.
Main Responsibilities

Hands-on familiarity with Pilot Plant equipment, both in technical specifications and proper operation, performing tests and ensuring accuracy of results

Develop and improve SOP’s for Pilot Plant, and provide training/documentation

Working under guidance of Process Authority
Perform periodic Heat Distributions in Pilot Plant to ensure proper
equipment performance
Perform Heat Penetrations for new products and/or formulas
Make thermal process recommendations to Scientists for both
aseptic and retort
Validate modified processes in aseptics
Ensure Pilot Plant compliance with FDA 21 CFR part 113
File processes with FDA

Improve Pilot Plant skills/capabilities via new equipment, measurement tools, training, etc.

Define process requirements for new products, and evaluate the capability of existing production lines to deliver acceptable finished goods

Design tests to scale-up processes for industrial manufacture

Participate in development team meetings

Evaluate new process technologies for their relevance to the Nutrition business

Lead select projects that are process-focused
Education and Experience Required
-
BS in Chemical Engineering or Food Engineering, or related discipline
-
Skilled in use of Microsoft Office tools
-
3-5 years experience of Thermal Process for Low Acid foods
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in both and Retort thermal process
