SUMMARY

This role provides technical product support for RD&I initiatives
-
The ongoing emphasis will be on the creation and innovation of new products
-
On the technical side, this includes, but is not limited to, gold standard culinary development, bench-top flavor development and translation to commercial ingredients and processes, understanding and documenting key process conditions in a pilot plant setting, and translation to manufacturing facilities
-
Work may also include research and experimentation of new and enabling technologies, product and process improvement initiatives, and other special projects with emphasis on product technology
-
Management activities include coaching product developers on the product development process, developing project goals and objectives, approach and timetables, leading or participating in cross-functional project teams, and coordination of activities with technicians
-
Work should be conducted in a collaborative manner with resources from culinary arts, sensory evaluation, Market Research, Supply Chain, QA, process/package technology and outside suppliers and experts

Generally is responsible for researching, planning and designing experiments, coordinating research projects; evaluating results and providing recommendations to management
-
Assignments tend to be complex, often involving new product development, innovative applied technology or research in unexplored scientific areas

Aggressively pursues goals and special requests that may not have an obvious approach
Education Required:
-
B.S. or M.S. Food Science or related discipline
-
Better Process Control School
-
Thermal Processing School
Experience Required:
-
8+ years of product development experience at best-in-class food companies
-
Expertise in product development, product formulation, flavor work, and ingredient function and interaction
-
Knowledge in the areas of analytical methods, statistical design of experiments and analysis of data, and sensory evaluation
-
Nice to have experience in retort, heat penetration data collection and analysis, and bean processing
