SUMMARY
The primary role of this position is to provide leadership for the development of a balanced R&D project portfolio. The manager will leverage internal and external resources, to develop programs, manage ensuing R&D projects from concept through to commercialization. Scout new technologies to develop and optimize our capabilities in processing, quality assurance, technical services and customer solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure team's compliance with all Food Safety and EH&S policies.

Anticipate customer requirements by staying abreast of important global developments and trends

Use market and technical insights to influence strategy and guide business plan development

Demonstrate responsiveness to the local and global customer needs by identifying and supporting development of capabilities and solutions in the regions where business is conducted

Creates portfolio that balances short and long term business needs. Partner cross functionally to assess strategic fit, technical feasibility and financial viability of new opportunities

Identify and prioritize new customer solutions opportunities. Align with cross functional partners to present novel solutions to BU leadership for approval and funding

Oversee prioritization of resources (ie budgets) to ensure alignment with strategic priorities

Ensure timely execution, dissemination of information and solutions to key stakeholders

Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries

Proactively establishes/cultivates a broad network within and without the organization

Builds and maintains active research programs that build upon previous technical knowledge in the field in conjunction with principles from multiple disciplines to defensible develop solutions.

Education and Experience Required
Required
-
Minimum of an MS degree in an applicable scientific discipline (Food Science, Cereal Science, Chemistry, Engineering, etc.)

7 + years of industrial/academic experience

5 + years of managerial experience leading technical teams

Proven experience working with external customers
