Plant QA Manager

Salary Range: $80-110,000 + 7.5-15% + relocation assistance

JOB FUNCTION

Responsible for management of plant Quality Assurance programs at the plant facility. Assists Operations in the identification and implementation of quality improvements. Assures compliance with applicable quality, food safety and regulatory standards. Support, implement, and maintain food safety practices as required through SQF. Will be responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, food safety, quality and environmental practices. Must be able to read and understand English.


JOB ACTIVITIES/DUTIES

  • Assure that all raw materials, process parameters, sanitation procedures, and finished products comply with Company standards
  • Manage and audit quality programs and maintain proper documentation
  • Participate in and support company Excellence activities including Green Belt, Kaizan, and Non compliant incidents as member and/or resource. Compile and report noncompliance information
  • Administer hold product dispositions. Follow-up and coordinate the release and/or removal of hold product through the proper channels
  • Assure that HACCP plans are fully implemented and monitored for all processing lines
  • Organize or provide training for team members in the areas of noncompliance, metal detection, GMP’s, HACCP, color code, sanitation procedures, net weight, and sensory attributes
  • Coordinate the activities of the pest prevention program. Assist in the development of pest prevention schedule. Coordinate the licensing of all pest applicators
  • Work with vendors to correct noncompliance issues concerning ingredients and supplies
  • Participates in vendor GMP/sanitation audits and vendor certification audits to ensure company standards are being met
  • Provide managerial and technical leadership to Quality Assurance technicians
  • Provide technical assistance to team members regarding the use of chemicals and sanitation protocol
  • As the QA representative on all product teams, provide information regarding quality to assure products meet company’s quality standards
  • Manage the necessary retrieval of suspect product involved in a product recall
  • Assist in conducting tours, audits, and inspections by customers, regulatory agencies, etc.
  • Provide day to day QA Support to internal and external customers
  • Research and approve all test lots
  • Investigate consumer and customer complaints and provide written communication regarding the findings
  • Responsible to develop, validate, verify, implement and maintain the SQF prerequisite, food safety, and food quality systems for the corporation and facilitate efforts of the Site SQF Practitioners

Education
Minimum of 4 year B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in food manufacturing business, preferably in the Quality Assurance or Production environment
  • Must have working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, quality systems, and experience working with and leading team in a manufacturing environment
  • Should possess understanding of FDA and local regulatory requirements.
  • Effective management and supervisory skills
  • Must have excellent facilitating skills in a team environment, and effective communication skills, both written and oral Training skills with ability to develop own curriculum
  • Must be a demonstrated problem solver with the ability to implement effective solutions
