Research Engineer – R&D Process Development

Salary Range: $90-105,000 + bonus + relocation assistance

SUMMARY
Responsible for leading process development programs & projects that transform the way in which the company produces products. This includes identifying new processing technologies, developing & optimizing the technologies, and implementing them at factory scale. Projects will focus on cultured products, fluid milk products, &/or non-dairy beverage products.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES

  • Proven track record of taking technology ideas from concept, through development, to commercialization
  • Coaching junior talent to advance projects
  • Working with experimental designs, statistics, and consumer testing to plan projects and make decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to use strong technical insight and logic in making decisions
  • Demonstrated strong program leadership - comfortable in leading team meetings and teams, creating and managing timelines, execution of plans, & contingency planning
  • Proven track record of being a self starter and being able to work autonomously to plan, implement, monitor and deliver objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong R&D voice within cross-functional settings, using logical scientific arguments to influence others and make decisions
  • Ability to communicate in a compelling fashion with junior and senior levels in the Supply Chain organization and in R&D

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify new process technology opportunities, and create/implement intellectual property plans
  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments of new technologies through lab and pilot plant trial experimentation
  • Scale-up and implement new process technologies at factory level
  • Create process design scopes to define manufacturing specifications and capital requirements
  • Act as technical subject matter expert for the company
  • Coach junior talent to advance projects
  • Work directly with research institutes, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and Supply Chain organization to achieve goals
  • Facilitate communication and project alignment between Marketing, R&D, and the Supply Chain organizations

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Food Engineering or similar technical discipline


Experience Required: 7-10 years experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry; R&D process development experience; Experience with fluid thermal processing applications; Dairy products and/or soy beverages experience desired
